It’s August and that means us Moms are busy preparing to get the kids back to school. Disorganization, clutter and chaos can drain you of your energy and cause various obstacles in hampering your success to be organized and ready for the new school year. Even if you’re not a parent, a life cleanse can be a great way to get re-organized for a new job, or project.

Have you heard of a life cleanse? Just like you detox your body every once in a while, a life cleanse is a detox of all things in your life.  Here are some of  the ways to do a life cleanse to help you get organized.

Declutter:

  • Get rid of clothes and shoes that no longer fit
  • Clear out old voicemails and emails
  • Remove expired foods from the refrigerator and pantry
  • Purge old toys and donate or sell them
  • Clean out old school supplies

Go through your calendar:

  • Get out the school calendar and mark all the important dates onto your personal calendar (sports practice, orientation for new schools, meet the teacher nights, concerts…)
  • Make sure you are up to date with all medical/ dental/ eye appointments
  • Plan out your school schedules (drop-off and pick-up times, days off, after school activities…). This year, my 3 boys will be in 3 different schools with 3 different schedules. I just hope I don’t end up at the wrong school at the wrong time.

Get organized:

  • Buy, label, and organize all school supplies ahead of time so you are not going crazy the night before school starts
  • Clear off your kid’s desk of old papers and projects
  • Plan meals for the upcoming week and make a grocery list

I hope these tips help you get ready for the new school year.  Best wishes to all the kids for a great time in their new classes. Moms and Dads, you got this. We’re all in this together.

Here’s to a great school year.
