Your child will start learning early literacy skills while you are pregnant. Speaking to your child, singing songs, and reading to them daily will set your child up for a love of reading and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Did you know that 1 in 5 children struggle with learning to read in school?* The skills needed for reading begin very early in life. Reading to your infants and toddlers increases their verbal skills, vocabulary, logical thinking and problem solving skills. It also sets them up for better academic success for the rest of their lives.

Speaking to your baby in conversational tones (and pausing to allow them to coo in response), singing to them, reading board books with rhyming words, and teaching the letters of the alphabet are all early literacy tools to help your child become a strong reader. The goal is to read 1000 books to your child before kindergarten. That may seem like a lot, but if you read just 1 book a day from age 1-5 you will have read over 1400 books. Reading together promotes a strong sense of bonding and children love to read the same books over and over again. Become a regular patron of your local library and make a commitment to read to your children for at least 15 minutes a day.

Introducing A Self-Study Course for Moms of Infants and Toddlers

Babies don’t come with instruction manuals, so I have created this course as the next best thing. I know having kids can be stressful, and you are busy with a full schedule. I have 3 boys who are less than 4 years apart, so I understand that time is a very precious resource for you right now.

In this course, I will teach you simple techniques that you can incorporate into your daily lifestyle easily. My videos are 15 minutes or less and I have created quick reference guides that you can print out with the important bullet points listed.
