I have been a Physician Assistant (PA) for over 20 years and I had no idea what a health coach was or what they do until about 4 years ago. I wish I had known though, I probably would have hired one many years ago. Yes, coaches help with meal plans and exercise regimens, but we can do so much more!
I spent 1 year in the Wellness Coach Academy training to be a coach. During that time, I came across all kinds of coaches. There are nutritionists, fitness trainers, business coaches, ADHD coaches, fertility coaches, menopause coaches, financial coaches, parenting coaches, relationship coaches, retirement coaches, and even divorce coaches.
What can a wellness coach (like me) help you with:
-Do you have anything that you’ve been dreaming about for months (or maybe even years)? A coach can help make that dream a reality.
-Have you had a major life change (divorce, loss of a job, or a move to a new city) that you are struggling with? A coach can be a great sounding board for you to discuss ideas/ plans for what to do next.
-Are you struggling with poor sleep? Again, a coach can work with you to improve both the quality and quantity of sleep.
-Do you have constant stress, frustration, and always feel overwhelmed? This is what I would have hired a coach for 10 years ago.
-Are you a mom who feels lost because you are working (either at home or at a job) and taking care of the kids all day? I didn’t realize how common this is, but again, a coach can help you reclaim your identity, discover and pursue your passions.
-Finally, a coach can help you discover what your purpose in life really is.
If you are struggling with anything, and want some guidance, just contact me. If I can’t help you, I probably have someone in my network who can. I would be happy to refer you to the right coach so you can get the support you need.
